How it works

Once you're set up to offer your customers the extra convenience of card payment you'll find it's an excellent way to maximise sales opportunities with the minimum of extra effort for you and your staff.

• Your customer simply presents their card at your point of sale, and you process it with your PDQ terminal. Click here for more details on PDQ terminals.
• Details of the card transaction are sent through the terminal to Barclaycard Business
• We identify the relevant card scheme instantly (Visa, MasterCard/Europay, Maestro or JCB) and send the details on through them to the worldwide financial institution that issued the card to your customer
• Your business is credited with the value of the card transaction within 3-4 working days^*
• Every month, you will receive a merchant statement detailing the number and value of card transactions we have processed on your behalf, and how much you've paid for each transaction. For details of our payment structure, see How much does it cost?
• The cardholder will see details of their transaction on the statement they receive from their card issuer
